The Class of 1895, with 7 graduates, was the second graduating class from the new Washington Graded School.
Dr. Samuel H. Edmunds was elected by the school board to fill the poslition of Superintendent of Sumter schools to replace John B. Duffie who had resigned in June 1895 due to health issues.
